Solution for Tacky Bible Pages!

I am talking about Sticky Pages, not Tasteless Pages.

Be careful about pulling pages apart that are sticking together.

When you have used a product for either adhesive or page prep, stickiness between pages may occur. Examples of the tricky products are: adhesive for foil, Mod Podge to put flowers or other scrapbooking embellishments into your bible, some gel crayons, products with a gloss finish or any other product that just does not seem to dry well or all the way. These products may cause your pages to stick together. THERE IS A SOLUTION. . . which is a very good thing!

“The best solution, of course, is to not let the problem happen in the first place. Make sure and leave your Bible open overnight, if not longer, after using products that hold any risk at all, of sticking.” ~ Jackie Mattingly

Even gesso, used to prep your pages for further artwork, can be guilty of causing sticking if not adequately dried before closing the Bible. Heat guns can help dry many products, but “may”, cause a skim, where the surface dries, leaving dampness under what feels dry. This can work it’s way back to the surface while you are not paying attention.

Gently pull the pages apart if you can. Patience is the key. If necessary you can try sliding a ruler or other thin item between the pages and slide from the inside edge out.

Once you have the pages separated, if the problem is foil adhesive, you could try rubbing more foil over the adhesive, if not maybe you want to add the sparkle of foil?

Once you have the pages separated, sprinkle lightly with talc or corn starch.

Brush off excess.

Use a soft clothe to remove the balance.

Leave open a little longer.

You should be tack free.
